Dury St, West End
Design by Marc & Co in collaboration with The Baber Studio
The ‘Attic Undercroft house’ was designed as a collaboration between renowned Brisbane Architects, Angus Munro & Kim Baber. The brief for the house was that it needed to be something memorable for their children with quality more important than size. As a result, each and every space in the home features bespoke finishes and designs.
The home features a pitched roof with exposed structural ‘webs’ forming lines for walls. This has resulted in a house with angle walls, glazing and concrete. Each end of the house has steel stacking doors that when open give a strong connection with the external gardens and living spaces.
The balconies on each end of the upper floors are closed in with gold painted perforated screens sitting within the same angled webs that sit within the internal livings spaces.
Concrete is a common theme throughout with the central core of the building being entirely out of ‘off paling’ formed concrete walls and stairs. The areas surrounding include burnished concrete floors, concrete bench tops, hand-made concrete tiles
The home has been designed to be 4 bedroom and 2.5 bathrooms but has currently been left without some dividing walls until their children are a little older.
